What is a doorstep loan?
Also known as home credit, doorstep loans are a form of personal loans, and are provided by a lender whose agents come to your door. This means that your agent can get to know you and ensure the small loan is affordable for your situation. All our meetings will take place in the comfort of your own home.
You may also hear doorstep loans referred to as doorstep cash loans or door collection loans.
Why take out a doorstep loan with us?
At Loans at Home, we understand that it can be difficult to make ends meet at times – especially when unexpected costs crop up. Our service is designed to be convenient to you, with a friendly agent, local to your area discussing your loan options in your own home. Because we get to know your needs, you won’t be treated as another customer on a list – we’ll be able to help you choose a loan that’s suitable for your individual circumstances. We won’t surprise you with any hidden charges. You can talk through any concerns you may have when you meet with your agent and your loan will be tailored specifically to your situation. What’s more, even if your circumstances change, we won’t charge you any more than what was initially agreed.
Tell us the amount you want to borrow and over how many months you'd like to repay it, and we'll calculate how much your repayments might be.
Get cash right to your door
If you’re approved, you can receive between £100 and £600 delivered to your door by your friendly local agent.
There are no hidden surprises
You won’t come across any unexpected costs or additional charges – and if your circumstances change, we won’t charge you more.
We'll treat you fairly
Because we visit you on a weekly basis, we get to know you and your situation and can help tailor your loan to your individual circumstances.
How does a doorstep loan work?
The first step is to fill out a two-minute online application before receiving a decision in principle. If you’re approved in principle for one of our loans, we’ll be in touch within 24 hours to arrange for a friendly local agent to visit you at home. They will be your point of contact throughout your time with us and in your initial meeting and they’ll help you work out what you can comfortably afford to borrow and repay. If approved, your agent will provide you with your cash loan of between £100 – £600 there and then. Our service is simple and convenient – your agent will return each week and you can make the repayments with ease.
Why should you choose home credit?
Doorstep loans come with many benefits:
- An instant decision. If you’re approved during your meeting with the agent, you will get the money there and then, so there’s no waiting around.
- There’s no need for a bank account. Because they’re cash loans, you may not even need a bank account.
- It’s a personal service. Agents visit you in the comfort of your own home and you’ll stick with the same one throughout the whole process, offering familiarity and the peace of mind that you’re not just ‘another number’.
- Credit rating may not be an issue. If you’ve got a less-than-perfect credit rating, you will still be considered for a doorstep loan.
Am I eligible for a doorstep loan?
If you’re questioning whether or not you will qualify for one of our loans, take a look at the below frequently asked questions to get a clearer idea.
What’s the difference between home credit and doorstep loans?
There’s no difference. The wording applies to the same thing – the loan is delivered directly to your door and repayments collected from your home in cash.
Are doorstep loans available for unemployed people or those on benefits?
Yes. If you are not in full time employment, it’s even tougher on your finances and we can tailor our loans to each applicant’s individual situation.
What if I have bad credit?
We appreciate that a bad credit score isn’t reflective of you as a person – it can happen to anyone. If you have a poor credit history, Loans at Home won’t judge you on this and you may still qualify for doorstep cash loans. If you apply to borrow money, we look at more than just your credit score, so bad credit may not hold you back.
What if I struggle to make my weekly repayments?
All we ask is that you’re open and honest with us about your situation, and the fact that you’ll be dealing with the same agent throughout the process should make this easier. We will always try to come to an arrangement that’s more manageable for you – and there won’t be any hidden charges.
Does Loans at Home perform a credit check?
Yes, but we also take into account a number of other factors, so you shouldn’t let this put you off when applying for a home credit loan.
What’s the maximum amount I can borrow?
You can borrow anything between £100 – £600. Take a look at your options.
